December 2025 Athlete of the Month – CrossFit Broken Chains
By CFBC Staff Writer
For Vicente Marcano, fitness has always played an important role in his life. But in 2020, something shifted. After discovering CrossFit, he found a deeper sense of purpose, challenge, and community—one that led him straight to CrossFit Broken Chains.
“I’ve always enjoyed physical activity,” he shares. “But CrossFit is different—it’s comprehensive. That’s the best word I can use to describe it.”
When he started looking for a gym close to home, Vicente visited a few boxes—but none resonated quite like CFBC. “You were professional. Like a family. And you had a strong spiritual foundation. That’s the best path for me.”
He joined, and never looked back.
Why He Keeps Coming Back:
Now a familiar face in the CFBC community, Vicente shows up with consistent effort, a positive mindset, and the kind of quiet discipline that raises the standard for everyone around him.
- “I keep coming back because this place feels like home. It’s where I take care of my physical and mental health. It’s where I’m surrounded by people who feel like family. And it’s where I continue to reach personal goals.”
Whether it’s in a heavy power clean or simply showing up and pushing through a tough day, Vicente’s mindset is anchored in long-term growth. “CrossFit helps me stay physically and mentally active as I get older. I feel more dynamic and flexible—even as the years go by,” he laughs.
The Rewards of Hard Work:
While Vicente is quick to praise others, he acknowledges that the recognition he’s received—like being named Athlete of the Month—means a lot.
- “It’s a recognition of my effort. And that’s something I’m proud of.”
His favorite movement in the gym? The power clean. The most challenging? Without hesitation: the overhead squat. But he faces every movement with focus, energy, and humility.
Fitness as a Mindset — Inside and Out:
Since transitioning from traditional gyms to CrossFit in 2020, Vicente has seen growth in every area of life.
- “Before CrossFit, I mostly trained in regular gyms. But when I found CrossFit, my mindset changed. I’ve become more active, more productive, and I feel like I perform better—both inside and outside the gym.”
And like many athletes at CFBC, he values the mental and emotional side of training just as much as the physical.
Words of Wisdom:
To anyone just beginning their CrossFit journey, Vicente offers practical and thoughtful advice:
- “If you’re new, follow the technique step by step. It’s crucial. If you already have some experience, keep going—and set short, medium, and long-term goals.”
His approach is one of patience, precision, and perseverance—an example for athletes of all levels.
Final Shoutouts:
Vicente didn’t want to end without giving thanks.
- “Congratulations to all the coaches—you’re doing a great job. I’ve worked with all of you except the morning crew. Keep up the great work, and always give your best to guide and encourage us—you are our role models.”
And to his training partners?
- “Thank you for training with me, for encouraging me, and for giving me that extra push we all need to reach our goals.”
Final Words:
Vicente Marcano’s story is a reminder that consistency, faith, and the right community can change everything. He’s not just building strength—he’s building legacy. And for that, we’re honored to have him as part of the CFBC family.
